How does a dolphin hold its breath?

Dolphins can slow down their hearts, which means they don't use up oxygen as quickly as other animals do. Also, dolphins can control where oxygen is sent in their bodies. When they dive, they send oxygen to the most important parts, that is the brain and heart. The oxygen is stored in their blood, muscles, and small blood vessels.
